This applet displays the solutions to the quantum harmonic oscillator problem. You can change the (reduced) mass of the vibrating system by clicking on m+ to increase it, and m- to decrease it. The mass is in units of amu's.
Increase the force constant of the bond by clicking k+, and decrease it by clicking k-. The force constants are in units of N m -1. Change the quantum number of the system by clicking n+ or n-. The lowest energy level of the harmonic oscillator is at n=0.
Click on Ψ to toggle the display of the normalized wavefunctions, and click on Ψ 2 to toggle the display of the probability density. The wavefunction is displayed in blue, and the probability density is displayed in red.
