Dynamic Monte Carlo Simulation (Catalytic Converter 2):

This applet models the adsorption of CO (red) and nitric oxide (oxygen atoms blue, nitrogen green) on a platinum (100) surface. They react on the surface to form carbon dioxide and a nitrogen atom, the CO2 immediately desorbing. If two nitrogen atoms are adjacent on the surface, they desorb as N2. The temperature is much lower than the enthalpies of desorption or diffusion. The partial pressures of CO and NO are initially equal. Clicking on the appropriate button will increase the partial pressure of one relative to the other. The maximum relative ratio is 95:5, that is, 95% CO/5% NO or 5% CO/90% NO.
