19 February 2004 - New applets on applet page about the quantum harmonic oscillator and molecular vibrations. 3-D structures of the first four compounds we made in inorganic chemistry can now be found on the laboratory syllabus page. We used these compounds in an FT-IR experiment, to simultaneously teach students in inorganic chemistry how we can use group theory to predict which vibrational modes are active in IR, and which in Raman, and to teach the students in physical chemistry II about the force constants of bonds between various atoms.
1 February 2004 - New applets on applet page, now totalling sixty applets. The applets are completely integrated into the instruction for three courses: physical chemistry I (thermodynamics), physical chemistry II (quantum chemistry), and advanced inorganic chemistry.
12 January 2004 - New applets on applet page - in particular, see the Mandelbrot Set applet (fractals), listed under "other".
