Abstract:

A series of donor/acceptor complexes are synthesized with ring substituted amino-capped aniline trimers serving as either electron donor or acceptor. The effect of the ring substituent on the electronic states of the resulting complex are explored with UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Substituent effects upon redox properties are investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations are used to model the experimental results.
